  • Empowering a Colorado-based Multinational eCommerce Firm: ACES’ Full-Service Digital Marketing

Empowering a Colorado-based Multinational eCommerce Firm: ACES’ Full-Service Digital Marketing

Animal Care Equipment & Services (ACES) began life as a local veterinary equipment supplier in Broomfield, CO, serving Denver and nearby communities. With a long-term, comprehensive digital marketing approach, we helped them grow into a major player in their industry, serving clientele nationwide and globally to nearly a dozen countries.

    The Problem

ACES had had little success in the digital sphere: online sales were a fraction of their total business and, more often than not, an afterthought when compared to their traditional sales channels. While non-digital sales and service remained stable, there was clear potential in web-based sales, but no clear route to reaching that potential. Figuring out the “how” was the next big step.

    Our Solution

Given the scope and potential of ACES’ situation, our solution was multifaceted and all-encompassing. We partnered with ACES to give them a fully-managed paid ad campaign, an SEO campaign that focused on overall visibility and their core product lineup, two fully-custom websites over the course of six years, and hands-on management by our senior staff the whole way through (complete with regular in-depth meetings and anytime access by phone to our marketing team).

    Our Results

    57xPaid Ad ROI

    $13Average Click Value

    $0.13Cost Per Click

Having a comprehensive and meticulously-executed digital marketing campaign helped ACES establish itself as a forerunner in the veterinary equipment space. Having begun as a local business, today they are the supplier of choice for dozens of vet clinics, animal control units, shelters, zoos, and other animal-centric agencies across the US and the Asia-Pacific region.

    The Paid Ad Campaign

With numerous large distributors and manufacturers saturating the market, the vet equipment space was difficult for ACES to break into alone. Mediaworks was able to provide the strategy and execution they needed to achieve long-term and highly lucrative success in the online advertising sector.

Our plan for ACES’ paid ad success was twofold: a broad-scope campaign targeting veterinary equipment-and-supply buyers generally, and another for specific fields and professions within the veterinary world, e.g. animal control, animal shelters, etc. This flexible approach allows us to better target the right people with the right product, as well as keep cost per click lower. This approach also helps us synergize with ACES’ promotions and product pushes, especially when it comes to promoting their own in-house brands over those products’ competitors.

The bread and butter of our approach is our expertise, diligence, and in-depth knowledge of ACES, our client. We’ve partnered with ACES for over six years, and have become deeply familiar with their business, their operations, and their industry. The story of helping them reach the figures they have is less about one big “breakthrough” moment, and more about hundreds upon hundreds of little decisions and optimizations.

Our efforts resulted in the explosive success of ACES’ digital sales:

    • ACES enjoys a 57x return on their ad spend. For every dollar spent on paid ads, they net $57 in online purchases.
    • ACES’ clicks cost just $0.13 on average, and each click is valued at around $13 in terms of sales delivered to their eCommerce store.
    • ACES’ clickthrough rate continues to rise year over year. Beginning at around 3.5%, they now enjoy a CTR of around twice that: 7.0%.

    The SEO Push

SEO is another pillar of our success with ACES. Since we began working with them, they’ve seen substantial growth in their organic ranks and keyword statistics, with numerous heavy-hitter keywords on Google’s first page of results and a number of high-power blogs and articles.

At Mediaworks, our SEO strategies always revolve around developing a deep knowledge of our clients and their industries, and using that knowledge to inform our approach. This was especially true of ACES, whose audience is split between contents: North America and the Asia-Pacific region. Between the two, there’s a surprisingly large difference between what keywords searchers are using to find the same products. For example, “opossum trap” is the more popular term in the US, while “possum trap” is much more popular in Australia; optimizing for “opossum trap” there would have been largely ineffective at selling traps. ACES’ case was a shining example of how good SEO isn’t something you can just throw together, it’s an art that needs research, know-how, and thorough knowledge of your audience.

    • Under our SEO regimen, ACES achieved 1,500+ keywords between their two major markets, North America and Asia-Pacific.
    • ACES’ branded keywords help direct more sales to their in-house equipment brands, boosting their margins further.

    The Website

ACES, having an eCommerce storefront, needed to nail their web presence. Since 2020, we’ve delivered two all-custom websites that integrate seamlessly into ACES’ preexisting workflow, and that provide a quick and easy shopping experience for customers.

Their latest Mediaworks site funnels shoppers into the categories they’ll be most inclined to purchase from, making it easy for shelters to find shelter gear, animal control units to buy animal control gear, etc. The interface is spacious and bright, optimizing clarity and ease of use. Aesthetically, ACES’ site is appropriately clinical while also retaining hints of charm and personability you’d expect from a small business.

The site also comes complete with remarketing and analytics built in: if, for instance, an ACES shopper closes the site but leaves items in their cart, reminder emails will automatically be sent their way, and practically every purchase can be tracked in terms of source, on-page behavior, and more.

    A Flexible, Custom-Built eCommerce Solution

What’s the best way to ship a snake-catching pole? How about a snake-catching pole that’s bundled in with a net gun, a 5-foot animal trap, and a 2-gallon container of cleaning solution? And how do you do it such that it optimizes UPS shipping rates, and provides live estimates on arrival dates, and does so all without human intervention?

For ACES, the answer was to call Mediaworks. Due to the nature of their product lineup, normal shipping solutions simply weren’t powerful enough to suit their needs. There were too many variables to account for, too many edge cases, they needed something tailor-made for their business and operations. We stepped in and developed a fully-custom shipping solution to remedy this: from box-size calculations to shipping cost estimations to tracking-number generation, we were able to address all of ACES’ unique needs and do so in one elegant package.

ACES is now a digital power player in the veterinary equipment space, and we’re proud to have helped them achieve that. Having gone from an afterthought to a leading force behind their continuous growth and expansion, ACES’ digital marketing and eCommerce efforts are now core to the company as a whole. We’re proud of our work, but we’re equally as proud of the professional relationship we’ve garnered with their team.

  • SEO vs SEM in 2026: What’s Best for Your Business?

SEO vs SEM in 2026: What’s Best for Your Business?

Digital marketing changes quickly, and search has become more complex. Between organic listings, paid ads, Google Business Profiles, local map results, AI Overviews, and competitive search pages, many owners ask: what is the difference between SEO vs SEM, and which one is better for growth?

The answer depends on your goals. Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, focuses on improving your website so it can earn visibility in organic search results. Search Engine Marketing, or SEM, focuses on paid advertising that helps your business appear in sponsored placements. When used together, SEO vs SEM can support both long-term visibility and faster lead generation.

    What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is the process of improving your website so search engines can understand your content and users can find helpful, relevant answers. SEO includes keyword research, website content, technical improvements, page speed, mobile usability, local search optimization, internal linking, and helpful service pages.

The goal of SEO is to earn organic visibility over time. That means you are not paying for each individual click, but you are investing in content, website quality, and search strategy. Good SEO helps your website answer real customer questions and show why your business is a trusted option.

In 2026, SEO is not just about ranking for keywords. Search engines are looking for clear, useful, people-first content. Your website should explain what you offer, who you serve, where you work, and why customers should choose you. This matters even more as AI-powered search results become more common.

    What is SEM?

SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing. Today, most businesses use the term to describe paid search advertising, especially Google Ads. With SEM, your business pays to appear in sponsored results when people search for specific products, services, or solutions.

For example, if someone searches for a local web design company or digital marketing agency, a paid ad can help a business appear near the top. This makes SEM useful for companies that want faster visibility while their organic rankings continue to grow.

SEM gives businesses control over targeting, budget, location, timing, and messaging. You can choose keywords, geographic areas, and landing pages. However, success depends on more than budget. Strong ads, relevant keywords, clear landing pages, and conversion tracking all matter.

The Main Difference Between SEO vs SEM

The main difference between SEO vs SEM is how visibility is gained. SEO earns visibility through organic search results. SEM buys visibility through paid placements.

SEO usually takes more time to build, but it can create lasting value. A well-optimized service page or blog post can continue attracting traffic long after it is published. SEM can generate traffic much faster, but that visibility usually stops when the ad budget stops.

A simple way to think about SEO vs SEM is this: SEO builds long-term strength, while SEM creates immediate opportunity. Both can drive website traffic, leads, and sales, but they work best when they are used for the right purpose.

    Why SEO Still Matters

SEO remains important because people continue to use search engines to research businesses, compare options, and make decisions. Even with AI tools and paid ads, organic visibility still plays a major role in building trust.

A strong SEO strategy can help your business appear for informational searches, local searches, service-based searches, and branded searches. It also improves the quality of your website. Clear page titles, helpful content, simple navigation, and strong calls to action make the user experience better for both visitors and search engines.

SEO also supports AI search visibility. When your content is organized, accurate, and easy to understand, it is more likely to be useful in modern search experiences. That means your website should answer common questions directly, define important terms, and explain services in a way that real people can understand.

    Why SEM Still Matters

for what you offer. This is especially useful in competitive industries where organic rankings take time.

Paid search can help with new service launches, seasonal promotions, local lead generation, competitive markets, and landing page testing. It is also helpful for businesses that need traffic quickly while SEO is still building momentum.

SEM can provide useful data, too. You can see which keywords get clicks, which ads generate leads, and which landing pages perform best. That information can help improve both paid campaigns and organic content. For many businesses, SEO vs SEM becomes easier to manage when data from each side informs the other.

    Which Strategy Is Better?

When comparing SEO vs SEM, there is no single answer that fits every business. SEO may be better if your goal is sustainable visibility, stronger website authority, and long-term growth. SEM may be better if your goal is faster traffic, immediate leads, or promotion of a specific offer.

For many businesses, the best strategy is not choosing one over the other. It is using both in a smart way. SEO vs SEM should not be viewed as a competition. They are two different tools that can support the same goal: helping the right people find your business.

How SEO and SEM Work Together

SEO and SEM are strongest when they support each other. SEM can help you test keywords, headlines, offers, and landing pages quickly. If a paid search campaign shows that certain terms convert well, those insights can guide future SEO content.

SEO can also make SEM stronger. A better website can improve landing page quality, user experience, and conversion rates. If visitors click an ad and land on a slow, confusing, or thin page, the campaign may struggle. If they land on a clear, helpful, well-designed page, they are more likely to take action.

Using SEO vs SEM together can help your business gain visibility faster while also building a stronger long-term foundation. This balanced approach reduces dependence on one traffic source and gives your marketing more flexibility. In practical terms, SEO vs SEM works best when your organic content, paid ads, and landing pages all share the same message.

    Why MediaWorks?

At MediaWorks, we help businesses understand how SEO vs SEM fits into a complete digital marketing strategy. SEO vs SEM decisions should be practical, not confusing. The right approach depends on your goals, budget, market, timeline, and website performance.

Our team supports businesses with SEO, SEM, web design, content marketing, and digital strategy designed to improve visibility and generate better leads. Instead of treating SEO vs SEM as separate efforts, we look at how both can work together to support real business growth.

If you are ready to build a smarter search strategy, MediaWorks can help you decide where to focus first and how to make each marketing dollar work harder.

  • SEO Strategy in 2026: What Still Works (And What Google Quietly Demoted)

SEO Strategy in 2026: What Still Works (And What Google Quietly Demoted)

Search engine optimization continues to evolve quickly. Just when businesses feel confident with their practices, Google updates again. In 2026 an effective SEO strategy must balance proven fundamentals with new realities in AI search behavior and user experience. In this blog we will explore what still matters, what has quietly lost influence, and how to craft an SEO strategy that delivers sustainable results.

Why SEO Strategy Still Matters in 2026

An effective SEO strategy is not about tricks or hacks. It is about creating content and experiences that search engines understand and users trust. Even with growing AI involvement in search results, the core signal remains relevance and value. Content that answers user questions clearly still ranks well. Websites that load quickly and are easy to navigate still outperform competitors. A thoughtful SEO strategy gives you a framework to make intentional decisions about content, technical performance, and user engagement.

    What Still Works

High Quality Content That Answers Real Questions

Google has always rewarded content that meets user intent. In 2026 this is even more critical. The rise of AI generated answers means search engines are better at understanding context and quality. A strong SEO strategy focuses on content that solves problems, provides insights, and is structured clearly. Prioritize content updates that refine clarity, add depth, and incorporate relevant keywords naturally.

On Page Optimization That Reflects Search Intent

On page SEO continues to be a foundation. Title tags, headers, meta descriptions, and structured data help search engines understand your content. Use actual phrases your audience is searching for and align them with real user intent. Crafting pages around a clear topic and consistently reinforcing that topic signals relevance and authority. Any strong SEO strategy will invest time in on page optimization because it directly affects ranking and click through rates.

    Strong User Experience Signals

Metrics like bounce rate, time on page, and ease of navigation shape how search engines evaluate your site. Google uses these signals to determine if users are satisfied with what they find. A responsive design, fast loading pages, and intuitive navigation are all part of the user experience. These are no longer optional if you want your SEO strategy to work long term.

    Local SEO for Targeted Audiences

For local businesses an effective SEO strategy includes local optimization. This means optimizing your Google Business Profile, earning genuine reviews, and ensuring NAP (name address phone) consistency across listings. Local keyword targeting and localized content differentiate your business in community based search results. Businesses that embrace these elements continue to see traffic and leads from organic search.

    seo strategy

    What Google Has Quietly Demoted

    Keyword Density Overstuffing

Gone are the days when repeating a keyword many times could improve ranking. Google’s algorithms now consider context and user satisfaction. Overusing keywords like “SEO strategy” in unnatural ways can actually harm performance. Focus instead on natural language and related terms that help search engines understand the topic without manipulation.

    Low Quality Link Building

Unrelated backlinks and link schemes were once a popular tactic. Today they can lead to penalties. Google has shifted to rewarding genuine authority and relevance. A modern SEO strategy emphasizes earning high quality links from trusted sources within your industry. Outreach, partnerships, and meaningful content are more valuable than bulk link building.

    Thin Content Pages

Pages with very little substantive content no longer rank well. Google prioritizes depth and usefulness. If a page cannot answer a user question with meaningful detail it may be bypassed entirely in favor of richer content. As a result content updates should focus on expanding value, not just word count.

What Modern SEO Strategy Looks Like

Focus on Topic Clusters and Topical Authority

Creating clusters of related content helps establish authority. Instead of single isolated pages, build a web of content that covers a topic deeply. When search engines see you cover multiple facets of a topic it signals expertise. This strengthens your overall SEO strategy by distributing internal authority and keeping users engaged longer.

    Intent Based Keyword Targeting

Keyword research now means understanding user intent. What problem is the user trying to solve? How can your content deliver the best answer? Use tools and analytics to identify not just the terms users search for but the reasons behind the searches. Build content based on intent and real needs.

    Integration With Other Channels

SEO does not work in isolation. Social media, email, and paid campaigns all contribute to visibility and engagement. A strong SEO strategy aligns with other marketing channels. For example paid ad insights can reveal high value keywords that can inform organic content. Social shares and engagement signals can drive traffic that amplifies SEO results.
